Today we got the amazing news that Joanna, Tony, and Samson welcomed baby Eli into the world. Eli seems to be much like his cousin Zach in that he was very impatient to get started with things. He arrived at 33 weeks and will spend a little time in the NICU before going home.
Funny how everything seems to wrap up so neatly - Cousins Samson and Luke were seven months apart in 2003; now four years later cousins Zach and Eli are seven months apart. Also Eli was born on Dave's beloved grandfather's birthday, so there's a nice symmetry to the whole thing.
I know it is hard for Tony and Joanna; having been there with that struggle I can only imagine the anxiety and uncertainty they must be facing. That's why tonight our thoughts are with our Florida family members. We wish them much strength and patience -- and rest -- over the next few days and weeks while Eli gets stronger; and we look forward to the day when he finally comes home, where he belongs, with his family.
